    Patient

    Healthy

Healthy lungs — normal compliance and resistance, no shunt and ordinary CO2 production. The baseline every other preset is measured against.

    Volume status

    Euvolemic
    dryeuvolemicoverloaded

Normal preload. Tolerates the usual PEEP and inspiratory time without giving up cardiac output.

Drag the bar, or pick a preset

    pH

    Normal
    7.41arterial
    acidoticnormalalkalotic

Normal pH. The ventilator's own CO2 still moves the number either way from here.

Pick a preset, or drag the bar
Hypoventilate and retained CO2 pushes the pH down; hyperventilate and it climbs. Half of this number belongs to the ventilator.
A preset puts the patient straight onto that pH and holds them there for a few seconds, so the number can be read before the ventilator answers. After that the respiratory half takes over — it comes from the patient's own CO₂, so changing the minute ventilation moves the pH with it.

Free-play simulation — nothing here is graded and the patient will not deteriorate. Change any control and watch the numbers respond.
